SUSS Convocation 2023 was a momentous occasion that brought together students, faculty, families, and distinguished guests to commemorate the achievements of the graduating class. Held over three days, with a total of nine physical ceremonies, it saw 2,989 graduates marking their milestone achievements.
With COVID-19 being deemed endemic, we were able to resume many of the arrangements we had previously. We scaled up our graduate numbers per session, accommodated more VIPs and guests, and brought back the post-event reception and active mingling sessions.
The ceremony was one filled with many firsts. We were the first university to have the President of the Republic of Singapore, His Excellency, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam grace our Convocation as SUSS’ Patron. We also had our former President, Mdm Halimah Yacob presiding over the Opening Session for the first time as SUSS Chancellor. Moreover, it was the first SUSS Convocation for Professor Tan Tai Yong as President of SUSS, as well as the first time we included ExCo members, partners, and alumni in the Academic Procession together with our academic staff. Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health was also amongst those who graced the ceremonies and joined us in celebrating this milestone with our graduands.
