For the first time ever, SUSS Out Door Adventure (ODA) and SUSS Skates Interest Group (IG) joined forces for a weekend of fun activities after their examinations! 46 students took part in a fun-filled day of rock climbing and skating, and had the chance to win attractive prizes in a friendly team-based competition!

They kicked off the event at 100PLUS Promenade with the mini skating bootcamp by the Skates IG to equip first-time skaters with basic skating skills and knowledge. To earn points for the final event prize, the participants put their skills to the test through a series of games including counting and answering general knowledge questions, all while on skates!

After a few hours of putting their minds and bodies to work, participants sat together for a restful lunch and bonded with the other participants. They then glided on to their next destination: the climbing gym at T-Hall @ Lavender! The participants were divided into groups to take part in a friendly climbing competition. Points were awarded based on the difficulty of the routes, and the group with the highest combined number of points at the end of the session wins. Everybody also had the chance to attempt and conquer different climbing routes of varying difficulties.

Kelly Ng, Year 2 Human Resource Management student shared, “It was a fun and thrilling experience, especially because I had no idea how to skate. I was really glad to have joined and made friends with people of similar interests!”
All smiles from participants after a tiring but fun day!
Although skating and climbing were both physically demanding and potentially intimidating for first-timers, the participants' perseverance and resilience during both activities made the experience fun and worthwhile where they had the chance to challenge their bodies, build meaningful relationships with peers, and pick up a fun new sport at this event. The adventures of SUSS ODA & Skates IG are far from over, so stay tuned for upcoming events!
