Ho Yi En Jeremiah, SUSS Year 2 Social Work undergraduate and a member of the SUSS Outdoor Adventure Interest Group (ODA IG), recently showcased his tenacity at SMU Gravical Competition, an annual regional bouldering competition that attracts hundreds of participants. Despite only embracing world of climbing three years ago, Jeremiah's performance was nothing short of remarkable, as he attained 9th place in the finals, a commendable feat among the 200-strong field of competitors.
Working against gravity
In a post-event reflection, Jeremiah’s greatest takeaway would be the significance of maintaining focus amid intense pressure. "It's easy to get caught up in how others are performing and lose sight of your own goals," he explained. "Staying calm and centered allowed me to give my best performance, regardless of external factors."
Reaching the top for all 6 qualification routes
To celebrate Jeremiah's impressive achievement and share his inspiring journey, the SUSS ODA IG has planned a live sharing session with its members. This session will serve as an opportunity for Jeremiah to recount his experience and aims to motivate other members to embrace challenges and explore uncharted territories.
Waving at the crowd during the finals
The SUSS ODA IG hopes to foster a spirit of adventure and camaraderie, empowering people to push beyond their comfort zones.
