SUSS Partners MENDAKI For Applied Social Science Research And Analytical Studies

On 13 January 2018, the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Yayasan MENDAKI to collaborate in applied social science research and analytical studies, aimed at enhancing the community's educational development

MENDAKI is a Malay/Muslim self-help group focused, among others, in supporting the education and lifelong learning of Malay/Muslim students and families from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, through programmes such as the MENDAKI Tuition Scheme (MTS). The MOU signing ceremony was held at Northland Primary School, in conjunction with the commencement of MTS and the Collaborative Tuition Programme (CTP) for 2018.

SUSS is committed to its mission of driving lifelong learning anchored in disciplines with a strong social focus. With the sealing of the partnership, SUSS and MENDAKI will work together on activities that will enhance the quality of teaching and learning, as well as evaluate the outcomes of MTS and its impact on the community at large through the use of data analytics.

Gracing the ceremony was Guest-of-Honour Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Communications and Information, Minister-In-Charge of Cyber Security, Minister-In-Charge of Muslim Affairs, and Chairman of MENDAKI. Together with Mr Richard Eu, Chairman of the SUSS Board of Trustees, they witnessed the MOU signing by Professor Cheong Hee Kiat, President of SUSS; and Mdm Rahayu Buang, Chief Executive Officer of MENDAKI.
