In a heartwarming display of community spirit and compassion to commemorate Total Defence’s 40th Anniversary (TD40), our students from the Public Safety and Security (PSS) programme spearheaded a donation drive entirely by themselves. Aimed to support those in need, the initiative also reinforced the importance of preparedness and unity in safeguarding Singapore.

With the participation of 55 generous donors, the drive attracted a remarkable turnout and garnered a total of S$2,209.49 in donations, reflecting the overwhelming support and solidarity within the SUSS community. With the funds, PSS students meticulously assembled donation packs containing essential items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, instant noodles, coffee, tea and biscuits. A dedicated team of 20 volunteers from the PSS Interest Group (PSSIG) also organised a food distribution day to expand this initiative’s impact.

The dedication and enthusiasm of PSS students as they volunteered their time and effort to pack the donation items reflects the impact of character-building through our PSS programme – values of service, integrity and social responsibility.

Natalie Koh, PSS Year 1 student reflected on her participation, "Being part of this initiative has been incredibly fulfilling. It's not just about donating items; it's about coming together as a community to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others."

Reflecting on the significance of TD40, PSSIG encourages everyone to always uphold their vigilance and contribute to Singapore’s safeguarding efforts. The success of the donation drive serves as a poignant reminder that by working together, Singapore can overcome challenges and emerge stronger as a nation.

Thank you to all students, faculty, donors and contributors for touching the lives of many and embodying the spirit of Total Defence in action!
