Dedicated to championing disability inclusion and improving accessibility for persons with disabilities, fostering integration among staff and students within the SUSS community since its establishment in April 2023, SUSS SEALS has organised several impactful programmes for the student community, including ‘Embracing Deafness’, ‘Inclusion Trail’ and ‘Spotlight on the Blind.’

As a relatively new AG, the recruitment of new members is crucial in sustaining ongoing efforts and discussions surrounding disability inclusion.

During the induction, the new SEALS members participated in icebreakers designed to promote disability inclusion and accessibility. These activities struck a balance between enjoyment and purpose, providing opportunities for the newcomers to familiarise themselves with their peers.

Neo Cen Min, SUSS Year 3 Marketing student and Programmes Department Head of SEALS, led the “Exclusion Sticker” game, which preceded a brief discussion on topics related to segregation, integration and inclusion. Following which, a virtual inclusion trail guided by Joyce Lee, SUSS Year 3 Business Analytics student and Publicity Department Head of SEALS, allowed new members to explore campus facilities and reflect on their accessibility. Meaningful discussions about how SEALS could contribute as a group was conducted with the purpose of improving accessibility for SUSS students.

In a spirit of experiential learning, the newcomers engaged in department simulation exercises, allowing them to sample various areas of work within SEALS. Through rotations within different working groups, each member had the chance to collaborate with various team members and identify departments that align closely with their interests and skills. These activities not only facilitated the development of professional relationships but also fostered stronger connections among SEALS members.
