Beginners participants learning how to skate
SUSS Skates Interest Group is excited to share the success of the inaugural collaboration with HAN@Clementi as part of the SUSS Culture Festival held at West Coast Park. This event not only showcased the excitement of skating but also highlighted the rich history of West Coast Park, bringing together families and residents in a spirit of community.
Participants enjoyed a thrilling amazing race with skates, which encouraged teamwork and exploration, allowing everyone to immerse themselves in the local culture. The fun continued with lively games of charades at the BBQ pits, adding to the fun and camaraderie of the day.
Volunteer shares fascinating insights about the heritage of West Coast Park
Another highlight was the creative drawing activity where participants illustrated a floor mural featuring Southern Islanders and mainland residents, themed “Our Clementi Home”. This artwork beautifully captured the essence of community connection.
Participants showcase their artwork and creativity
Participants also snapped pictures along the picturesque marsh walkway, creating lasting memories of their day. As part of the adventure, teams were tasked with locating the official signboard of the Marsh Walkway and snapping photos, while discovering the diverse flora and fauna that thrive in the Marsh Garden.
One participant reflected on the experience, and stated, “I learned how to skate. Through participating in this programme, I felt more connected to the community and learned more about the neighbourhood’s history and heritage”. The event not only provided opportunities for participants to learn to skate but also fostered a sense of community among students.
Ending the day with a fun group photo
The SUSS Skates Interest Group extends our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us – organisers, volunteers, and participants. The participants’ enthusiasm made the event truly special.
