SUSS Spirit Award 2024 : Celebrating the Heart of SUSS

The SUSS Spirit Award celebrates SUSS students who truly embody the 'Heart' of our 'Head, Heart, and Habit' philosophy. This year's awardees have gone above and beyond, demonstrating an inspiring commitment to people-oriented values and making a positive impact on those around them. 

 

With immense pride and admiration, we are delighted to present the winners of the SUSS Spirit Award 2024. These outstanding students have led initiatives ranging from youth empowerment to environmental sustainability, embodying the SUSS values of Dream, Dare, Do. Their dedication and commitment to making a positive impact have inspired us all. 

 

Cheang Yiu Wei Joel

Cheang Yiu Wei Joel 

Joel's passion for driving social change shines through his relentless efforts since 2017. Whether leading community engagement projects with TOUCH Young Arrows or advocating for youth mental health in the 2022 Youth Action Challenge 3, his leadership and commitment to causes like the deaf community and gender-related issues inspire others to push boundaries in creating lasting impact. 


Nor Syazwan Bin Abdul Majid
Nor Syazwan Bin Abdul Majid 

Syazwan's deep connection to his Ubin Orang Pulau heritage fuels his dedication to cultural preservation. Through his founding of Wan's Ubin Journal, he champions heritage conservation and education, using initiatives like Project Gotong Royong to foster a strong sense of community and pride in the kampung's rich legacy. 

 

Kweok Xiu En
Kweok Xiu En 

Xiu En’s compassionate leadership shines as Outdoor Adventure Interest Group (ODAIG)’s secretary, from winning the 2023 Asian Undergraduate Symposium to organizing a walkathon for seniors at St Luke’s ElderCare, enriching lives beyond her academic journey. 

 


Wong Tze Xiang

Wong Tze Xiang 

Tze Xiang’s leadership has made waves in the Outdoor Adventure Interest Group (ODAIG) community, spearheading impactful projects for underprivileged youth and driving environmental initiatives. His ability to balance roles in safety, marketing, and community leadership has enabled him to create meaningful change for organisations like the Children’s Cancer Foundation and beyond. 

 

Charlene Chua Kai Ning

Charlene Chua Kai Ning 

Charlene's innovative approach to community service is reflected in her role as Head of Welfare & Sponsorships for the Marketing Interest Group. Her leadership in Community Engagement Project: Digital Hawker Support at Geylang East Hawker Centre, an initiative with Infocomm Media Development Authority,  showcases her ability to connect with the community and deliver impactful outcomes, ensuring that multiple stakeholders benefit from her efforts. 

 


Ernie Herlynni Binte Herman

Ernie Herlynni Binte Herman 

Ernie’s leadership qualities are exemplified by her roles in SUSS Class Giving and Outdoor Adventure Interest Group (ODAIG). She has demonstrated her ability to inspire diverse teams across multiple platforms, leaving an indelible mark on initiatives like Sociovation 2023 and global inbound programmes, which foster cultural understanding and community spirit. 

 


Muhammed Syukrie Bin Sulaiman

Muhammed Syukrie Bin Sulaiman 

Syukrie’s tireless work in promoting mental health through his leadership in SUSS OWLS and the Growth Collective speaks volumes about his dedication to others' wellbeing. His deep empathy for the community is evident in his collaborative efforts with mental health partners, where he continuously strives to provide support for those in need. 

 


Rebecca Koh I Chynn

Rebecca Koh I Chynn 

Driven by personal experiences, Rebecca’s leadership in raising awareness for the Children’s Cancer Foundation reflects her unwavering commitment to social impact. Her work in the Youth Expedition Programme (YEP)in India further highlights her dedication to advocating for equal gender rights, leaving a legacy of empowerment and change. 

 


Wong Si Hui

Wong Si Hui 

Si Hui’s leadership has grown alongside her involvement with the Children’s Cancer Foundation, where she progressed from facilitating outdoor programmes to coordinating them as a Student Leader. Her advocacy for individuals with intellectual disabilities and gender equality showcases her multifaceted commitment to social causes. 

 

Muhammed Syahiran Bin Sulong Khairudin
 Muhammed Syahiran Bin Sulong Khairudin 

Syahiran’s dedication to philanthropy and social welfare shines through his leadership in Class Giving 2024 and the Cahaya Community project. His ability to build industry connections in his role as External Liaison Head for the Supply Chain Interest Group has created valuable opportunities for his peers, while his involvement in for continuous learning. As the Team Leader for Experiential Team Building and a panellist at a SkillsFuture event on global competencies and digitalisation, Syahiran showcases a diverse skill set and a strong passion for driving positive impact across multiple platforms.
