SUSS Student Filmmakers Shine in Microfilm Competition hosted by SFCCA, SCCC and Lianhe Zaobao

In a celebration of creative expression through film, the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA), Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC), and Lianhe Zaobao proudly hosted the 5th Microfilm Competition, themed “My Singapore Rhapsody.” This year’s theme emphasises the vibrant blend of cultures that define Singapore’s unique identity. Among the remarkable entries, a microfilm titled “Breaking Barriers Through Blind Tennis” earned the bronze award in the student category.

Produced by Tan Ser Ling Jessie, Tey Liang Jin, Chia Mun Teng, and Goh Mei Yan Carmen from SUSS’ Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Media programme, this inspiring documentary showcases the involvement of visually impaired (VI) individuals in the sport of tennis. Through the lens of Soundball Singapore, the film highlights the transformative power of sports in fostering a supportive community rooted in competition and camaraderie.

Soundball Singapore has profoundly impacted the visually impaired by providing a platform for empowerment and inclusivity. The microfilm aims to raise awareness of sports possibilities for VI individuals, encouraging them to transcend physical limitations and lead active, fulfilling lives.
