Anchored on the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Crisis Leader Response Process (CLRP), this battle-tested framework has been honed and proven effective through decades of rigorous application.
Illustrated through the case study of SAF’s involvement in COVID-19 pandemic operations, participants will glean valuable insights into the practical application of crisis leadership. It will highlight five key competencies a crisis leader must develop: emotional management, sense-making from diverse information sources, engaging and motivating teams, strategic planning and execution of crisis management tactics, and effective communication with various stakeholders. This masterclass is designed to equip leaders across various sectors with the skills and insights necessary to lead confidently and effectively in crisis situations, ensuring they are well-prepared to manage challenges in today's dynamic and complex environments.

Colonel Alex Wang, Head, Centre for Leadership Development, SAFTI Military Institute
Colonel Alex Wang, a distinguished military leader and scholar, is the Head of the Centre for Leadership Development at SAFTI Military Institute. Joining the Singapore Armed Forces in 1999, he is a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point and a Rhodes Scholar with a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford. With his extensive leadership experience, COL Alex has held numerous command and staff positions within the Singapore Armed Forces and his academic pursuits include an MBA from Nanyang Technological University
