Dr Sheila Maria A. Conejos is the first Filipino faculty in SUSS to receive the 2021 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organisations Overseas.
Dr Sheila Maria A. Conejos, SUSS Head of the Master of Built Environment and Bachelor of Science in Facilities Management programmes, was presented with the Presidential Pamana ng Pilipino Award 2021 which recognises her dedication in her academic work in SUSS and professional and research contributions in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Presidential Pamana ng Pilipino Award is conferred on Filipino overseas, who, in exemplifying the talent and industry of the Filipino, have brought the country honour and recognition through excellence and distinction in the pursuit of their work or profession.
Dr Conejos joined the ranks of esteemed recipients of the 2021 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organisations Overseas (PAFIOO) during the award ceremony held on 29 June 2022. The PAFIOO is considered the most inclusive and highest honour to be given by the Philippine government to Filipinos and organisations based overseas who have uplifted lives through their exceptional contributions in their respective fields of work and philanthropic initiatives.

Prior to joining SUSS, Dr Conejos was an architect, building manager, urban conservator and urban planner whose focus was in developing urban and building sustainability tools for climate change adaptation.
Dr Conejos shared: “I am excited to receive a medallion from Philippine’s President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and a Certificate of Recognition from the Commission on Filipinos Overseas! I will continue to fulfil my purpose in life as an academic and practitioner in the built environment, with great passion and hard work as my legacy to my family, countrymen and the next generation!”
