On 1 September 2015, SIM University (UniSIM) renewed its partnership with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly develop and deliver a revamped Master in Management (Urban Transportation) (MMUTR) programme. The two organisations first joined hands in 2010 to collaborate in the offering of the Master of Science in Urban Transport Management programme – the first of its kind in the region. Since then, UniSIM has worked closely with the LTA Academy to provide holistic and rigorous postgraduate training in urban transport management, presenting opportunities for practical application of knowledge and skills through industrial attachments and independent project work in urban transport. The revamped programme, leveraging the strength of UniSIM's School of Business (SBIZ) MBA programme, will allow students to be exposed to business administration studies, in addition to more specialised urban transport modules. They can then stay relevant to meet the challenges and demands of an increasingly complex land transport system in today's urban environment, and play a leading role in the management and development of such systems in cities around the world. The signatories of the MOU were Professor Tsui Kai Chong, Provost of UniSIM; and Mr Lew Yii Der, Group Director of Corporate Planning and Development at LTA. Professor Cheong Hee Kiat, President of UniSIM, welcomed the guests, including Mr Chew Men Leong, Chief Executive of LTA; and Mr Looi Teik Soon, Dean of LTA Academy. Also present to lend his support was Professor Cham Tao Soon, founding Chancellor and Chairman of the UniSIM Board of Trustees, and Honorary Fellow of the LTA Academy.
