Earlier this month, we successfully concluded the second run of the SUSS Entrepreneurship Bootcamp in Singapore. After nine exciting weeks of workshops following the lean startup method, conferences, site visits and pitch consultations, six teams delivered their pitches to a panel of mentors and investors with SUSS staff and students in the audience.
This year, we enjoyed a variety of startup ideas, from durable wallets to customised Halal makeup. The final winner of the demo day was Terence Chua, a part-time student pursuing his Bachelor in Biomedical Engineering while working full-time as a firefighter. His idea to innovate waterproof wallets was stemmed from a personal pain point of not being able to find a wallet that could withstand tough firefighting. The judges praised his product and well-delivered pitch and even offered to further discuss his prospects after the event.
Our bootcamp in Singapore runs yearly in June/July. Read this page for more information on how to apply! We also run bootcamps of similar format in various startup cities across the region: Jakarta (Sep 2018), Ho Chi Minh (Jan 2019), Manilla (May/Jun 2019), Shenzhen (Jul 2019; see article below), Phnom Penh (late 2019), find out more on our Venture Abroad page.
