Three passionate SUSS archers proudly represented Team Singapore at the Asian University Archery Championship in Chinese Taipei:
- Tang Jia Xin, Isabel, Business Analytics Year 4 student
- Kwok Jian Hong Ernst, Building & Project Management Year 4 student
- Goh Ming Min Carissa, Early Childhood Education Year 2 student
With their bows drawn and sights set high, they faced off against the best student archers from across Asia in an exhilarating competition.
Though the podium remained just out of reach, our team left the arena with something far more valuable experience. Battling fierce contenders from Asia such as India and Mongolia, they sharpened their skills and grew stronger from the challenges they faced.
Returning home, our archers carry with them not only the honour of representing Singapore on the international stage but also a renewed determination to grow and improve. Their resilience, sportsmanship and unwavering dedication to archery inspire pride, not just for our school, but for Singapore.
Isabel Tang steadies herself, anticipating the perfect shot.
Ernst Kwok draws his bow, locked in with unwavering focus.
With unwavering concentration, Carissa Goh prepares for her next shot.
Beyond the competition, this championship was about more than just archery. It was a powerful platform for building friendships and fostering regional cooperation among ASEAN nations.
Forging new friendships as archers from Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand come together
As athletes from Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia competed for top honours, they also exchanged experiences and built meaningful connections. The event demonstrated how sports can bring people together across borders through mutual respect and teamwork.
Every arrow shot represented not just a contest but a shared pursuit—sportsmanship, friendship, and the spirit of unity.
Carissa Goh, an SUSS archer and Early Childhood Education Year 2 student reflects her learning, “The whole experience was fun and I learnt about the importance of my mindset. Instead of focusing on what my opponent is doing or what score I shot, I should instead focus on my shooting process for every arrow. Before the trip, my coach told me to "focus on controlling what you can control", which really resonated with me as I competed. I just needed to trust in myself, my ability and my training.”
