JCS-Echigo Study Grant Recipient
Teresia Jong
Bachelor of Building and
Project Management
Class of 2026
Teresia began her career in the spatial design industry as a designer and is currently exploring a role in project management. With its creative and fast-paced environment, the industry continues to excite her.
It dawned on her that she wanted to do more, and she decided to upskill herself through the Bachelor of Building and Project Management programme at SUSS.
Needless to say, juggling work and study became a challenge.
She says, “The long journey from office to school and from school to home can be very tiring. Work also gets hectic. I realised that I lacked rest and found it difficult to concentrate in class sometimes.”
She trudged on. Then, she was awarded the JCS-Echigo Study Grant.
“The grant really boosted my morale. I felt like it was telling me, ‘Don’t give up!’” she says. “With this newfound confidence, I looked into how I could better manage my time.”
Teresia overcame her fatigue by sacrificing her weekends to study and complete her assignments. “This way, I can get proper rest during the weekdays, when I’m shuttling between school and work,” she explains.
Having received encouragement from the grant, Teresia hopes that she can pay it forward too.
“Financial support is a practical way to care for someone and assure him or her,” she says. “I would love to help in a similar manner in the future and make a donation to students with financial difficulties.”
